Understanding the health experts' of depression has come a long way in recent decades. In many cases, depression is not just a cause. Often results
from a combination of biology, psychology and stress or traumatic events.
Biology. Researchers have much to learn, why people are depressed. But some experts believe depression often results from an imbalance of certain
chemicals in the brain. These chemicals are called neurotransmitters. Antidepressants that affect the amount of chemicals put into balance.
There is also a genetic factor. If depression runs in your family, you have a higher risk of being depressed.
Following the general condition, other medical conditions or illness may increase the risk of depression. For example, if you had a heart attack,
have a 65% risk of becoming depressed after. Diseases such as cancer, heart disease, thyroid disorders and many others to increase the risk of
falling into depression.
Gender makes a difference, too. Women are twice as likely than men to suffer from depression. Nobody really knows why. But the hormonal changes
